# Templar

The **Templar** is a durable melee hybrid and an excellent choice for players who want a tank that can remain alive without constantly depending on another character. Its high base HP, strong armor, and self-healing abilities make it particularly effective in dungeons, smaller groups, and situations where reliable personal sustain is more important than maximum damage.

A Templar tank should prioritize **STA, HP, defense, block, and recovery**. Once the character has enough HP to survive dangerous boss attacks, the remaining equipment can be used to increase damage. This is important because a self-sustain build still needs enough damage to keep fights manageable and to recover HP through Suck Blood. The current Self Sustain Tank Guide uses a Templar as its example and recommends using two to three Suck Blood Diamonds alongside stamina-focused equipment.

Recent equipment changes further support this playstyle. Royal Blood set upgrades now grant additional HP Recovery and STA scaling, while the Royal Blood Templar Set also provides **3% Spell Vamp**. In the latest Soulreaver balance update, the Soulreaver Templar Set's PvE 1-on-1 damage was increased from **12% to 35%**, making the transition from Soulreaver equipment into Cardia content significantly smoother.

## Strengths

* Excellent personal sustain
* High HP and strong defensive potential
* Comfortable for solo play and smaller groups
* Can combine tankiness with respectable melee damage

## Weaknesses

* Lower raw damage than a dedicated damage dealer
* Less party-wide healing and support than a Seraph
* Limited AoE potential compared with more specialized farming classes

Choose the Templar if you want a reliable, self-sufficient tank that can withstand long fights and recover without requiring constant external healing.
