🌠Upgrade Priorities

Early Game

During the early game, follow the Beginner Guide. It covers the intended progression from your first equipment through Soulreaver content.

After Soulreaver Content

Once you enter the midgame, your upgrade priorities depend on your current goal and what prevents you from reaching it.

Your Goal

Upgrade Priority

Farm more efficiently or clear dungeons faster

Improve your damage dealer

Reach the next dungeon tier

Improve your tank

A dungeon run depends on having a tank that can survive the encounter. If your tank cannot withstand the next dungeon, additional damage alone will not help your group progress.

This guide focuses on upgrades for your damage dealer after entering the midgame at Royal Level 10. It is a general progression guideline rather than a fixed rule for every character and situation.

First Priority: Royal Gear

Royal progression is considerably more demanding, so it becomes increasingly important to spend your resources carefully.

Your first goal should be to replace your Soulreaver Equipment and Weapons with Royal Gear:

  • Royal Darkness is the intended gear for damage dealers.

  • Royal Blood is the intended gear for tanks.

Royal Gear becomes available at Royal Level 10 and provides a significant damage increase over Soulreaver Gear.

Royal Equipment also introduces Royal Reroll Lines. Choose your weapons and reroll lines carefully before investing heavily in them. Read the Royal Reroll Guide for more information.

Before continuing, complete the basic setup of your Royal Gear, including its awakenings, sockets, Cards and other essential improvements.

Midgame Shopping List

After preparing your Royal Gear, obtain the following items if you do not already have them:

  • Blessed Key

  • Royal Beads

  • 15% Cards or Z Cards

  • Level 13 Diamonds

  • Spirit Dice

  • Useful Umbala Furniture

  • A few Royal Scrolls of your Primary Stat

  • Ultimate Items

Prioritizing Ultimate Items

There are many Ultimate Items, but they do not all provide the same value. Some are easier to obtain, offer a more important stat line for your character or introduce an entirely new bonus instead of simply improving an Ancient Item.

For example, the Ultimate Entropia Flask provides a large stat increase. However, it requires several other Ultimate Items as sacrifices and is therefore considerably more expensive to obtain.

Ultimate Glyph vs. Ultimate Power-Up

Upgrade

Additional Stats Compared to the Ancient Version

Recommended Priority

Ultimate Glyph

PvE Damage +15% Attack +5% HP +20%

Usually the better priority for a tank

Ultimate Power-Up

PvE Damage +15% Attack +10% All Stats +35

Usually the better priority for a damage dealer

The additional HP from the Ultimate Glyph is generally less valuable to a pure damage dealer. By comparison, the Ultimate Power-Up provides the stronger offensive stat line. Tanks benefit more from the Glyph's additional HP.

Do not buy Ultimate Items only because they belong to the same tier. Compare their cost, their stat increases and their usefulness for your specific class and role first.

Further Ultimate Upgrades

Some Ultimate Items can later be upgraded into stronger versions:

Priorities from Royal Level 15

Once you reach Royal Level 15, prioritize the following upgrades regardless of whether you have already obtained every Ultimate Item:

  1. Upgrade your Soulreaver Jewellery into Royal Jewellery as soon as possible.

  2. Obtain the Ultimate Fairy if you do not already have it.

  3. Upgrade the Ultimate Fairy into an Astral Spirit.

  4. Level and equip the Astral Spirit. A developed Astral Spirit provides one of the largest damage increases available in the game.

  5. Upgrade your Ultimate Fashion into Omega Fashion.

Upgrading Omega Fashion can be very expensive. However, even a clean Omega Fashion should already be considerably stronger than an upgraded Ultimate Fashion.

When to Upgrade Royal Gear

Obtaining every Ultimate Item can be difficult and expensive. We recommend acquiring most of the Ultimate Items relevant to your character before investing heavily in Royal Gear upgrades.

Once you have obtained the Ultimate Items you want, begin upgrading your Royal Gear through the Royal Upgrading System.

Royal upgrading is very expensive, so choose the order carefully. Your first upgrade milestone should be +10.

Tank Accessory Notes

  • Templar uses the Royal Templar Accessory.

  • Force Master uses the Royal Force Master Accessory, but can switch to a Royal Life Accessory for AoE pulls.

  • Seraph uses the Royal Life Accessory, but can use a clean Royal Seraph Accessory when face-tanking AoE attacks.

The alternative accessories are situational. We do not recommend upgrading these secondary accessories because doing so is not necessary.

For a detailed overview of the stat values gained from each upgrade level, refer to Frodo's Forge Notes.
